Anina Paetzold

Anina Paetzold is Junior Professor of Popular Music (with a focus on Hip Hop) at Heidelberg University. She earned her PhD at Humboldt University of Berlin with the dissertation “Imagined Traditions: A Diachronic Ethnography on the Preservation of Performing Arts in Cambodia.” She has taught and conducted research in Popular Music Studies and Transcultural Musicology at Humboldt University and the University of Amsterdam. Her research explores the intersections of music, place and identity, heritage, competitive formats in music and dance, Cold War cultural politics, and the epistemologies of sound archives.
