Jaspal Singh

Jaspal Naveel Singh is a Global Hip Hop Linguist. His research investigates body language in breakin, graffiti literacies, language ideologies in rap, the phonology of breatboxin, among other topics. He has published his work in several academic journals and edited volumes. His 2022 monograph Transcultural Voices: Narrating Hip Hop Culture in Complex Delhi provides deep insights into the emerging Hip Hop scene in India. Together with Quentin Williams, Jaspal has edited the 2023 volume Global Hiphopography. He has worked and lived in Germany, Wales, Hong Kong and India.
