Paal Fagerheim

Paal Fagerheim is a Professor of Musicology at Nord University, Norway. His research explores intersections between music, culture, and society, with particular focus on popular music, postcolonial and ethnographic perspectives in the Nordic and Arctic regions. His work engages topics such as ethnicity, nationalism, conviviality, creativity, and the cultural implications of technology and AI in the music industry. He holds a PhD in musicology, a study of hip hop in northern Norway, now as a researcher in the NORHOP project on Norwegian hip hop. As a performer, Fagerheim integrates academic investigations with creative practice within reggae, dub and hip-hop communities in Norway.
