Waqas Mirza

Waqas Mirza is an academic and educator working across Translation Studies, Hip Hop Studies, and Imperial History. He holds a PhD in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford, which examined the representation of consciousness in Samuel Beckett’s self-translations. He currently teaches at the University of Oxford, and also co-directs a social enterprise developing public programmes on colonial legacies and the politics of heritage. His research explores multilingualism and cultural memory across multiple artforms. He has presented on Hip Hop’s relationship with canonical literature and art at Show and Prove (2018) and at EHHSN’s Pantheon Conference (2022).
