Aafje de Roest

Aafje de Roest is Assistant Professor of Literature in Hybrid and Multilingual Contexts at the University of Amsterdam. She is featured as one of the Faces of Science, a collaboration between NEMO and the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, and serves on the Supervisory Board of the Dutch Foundation for Literature. She earned her PhD cum laude from Leiden University in 2024, with a thesis on cultural identity in contemporary Dutch hip hop. She recently published The New Wave: Cultural Identity in Contemporary Dutch-Language Hip Hop (Amsterdam University Press) and is currently researching the future visions of Amsterdam youth, funded by the Amsterdam University Fund.
