Alex van der Hulst

Alex van der Hulst (1977) is a freelance writer and (music) journalist. Among other things, he has been writing Hip Hop reviews for OOR, the oldest Dutch music magazine, since 2003. He studied Arts and Culture Studies in Nijmegen and began working as an external PhD candidate at Radboud University on a thesis about music reviews in 2018. His research is based on a previously designed model for evaluation domains in literary reviews. He adapted this model for music reviews and applied it to five Dutch music magazines in five different eras. He is currently putting the finishing touches to his research.
