Sisa Uma Kente
Sisa Uma Kente, is recognized as one of the early voices in Dutch hiphop history. Active since the mid-1980s as Cheryl-Lee, she wrote not just her own lyrics but also for other mc's. At a time when the Dutch rap scene was still emerging she stepped on many stages in main Dutch cities. Reaching the Dutch National TV with her allgirl group Fresh Finesse. Her contribution to the pioneering compilation album Rhythm and Rhyme Vol 1, positioned her as the only girl among other male foundational artists. A project widely regarded as a milestone in formalizing Dutch hiphop on record. At a time when women were underrepresented in the genre, she carved space not only as an mc, but also as a mentor, organizer, and cultural bridge-builder. Through initiatives like Krazy Phat Unit and Break da Silence, she extended Hip Hop beyond performance into community education and social consciousness.
