Tony Keith Jr., PhD is a Black American poet, Hip-Hop educational leader, and author from Washington, DC. He is the founder and CEO of Ed Emcee Academy, an award-winning consulting agency that merges Hip-Hop, poetry, and spoken word into education and leadership development. His research on “Ed Emcees” explores how educators use poetry, spoken word, rap, and Hip-Hop culture to inspire conditions for liberatory learning and engagement. Tony has performed on stages from the Kennedy Center to international festivals, and his books How the Boogeyman Became a Poet and Knucklehead (HarperCollins) uplift youth voices. He embodies Hip-Hop as pedagogy, practice, and possibility.
